Daily Outfit - Jen - 10/29/10

This outfit was all wrong. It's cute and all, but not at all practical - at least not for today. We had a potluck at the office, and I maybe possibly (definitely) had to adjust my belt and move to another notch. And I'd do it all over again for some caramel pumpkin pie. I made the caramel pumpkin pie, by the way. It's like I'm some kind of domestic goddess or something. Emphasis on the "or something."

Have a happy Halloween! If you're anything like me, you're going to buy the good candy and buy in excess so that when there are leftovers, you won't be sorry.

Dress: Old Navy

Daily Outfit - Jen - 10/28/10

I'm going to pretend that today is Halloween and that I am a witch.

I just performed a memory spell, and you now have no recollection of this outfit.

What outfit?

Exactly.

Boots: Target

Friday Favorites - 10/29/10

Jen's Favorites:

I love these two outfits, too! I decided a long time ago that if I ever have a little girl, the walls of her nursery will be decorated with Fifi prints.

Orange is so underrated. How awesome is Chelsea's cardigan/top/ribbon belt combo? Very.

These fun ensembles almost make me want to hold on to summer just a bit longer. Almost.

Krystal's outfit is SO GOOD. I don't know what else to say. I am obsessed with the fact that she tucked in her cardigan and that she paired that chunky necklace with a simple outfit. Love.

Good manners never go out of style. Literally.

I want to start tucking in cardigans, too!

Kate's Favorites:

Oh man. SO TRUE.

Hair...love...GORGEOUS.

If I were a glamorous lady...

I, too, need an awesome plaid skirt. TO THE THRIFT STORE! ::HERO MUSIC::

Daily Outfit - Kate - 10/27/10

Pictures were quick today, as I immediately had to turn around and go run errands (whee!).

I said "WHEE!".

Whee.

Love that bag. Not loving how the proportions of skirt + boots + top appear here in this post, but rest assured that it's better in person. Really.

This top is not meant to be tucked in at all. I'm supposed to wear it untucked and billowy and bohemiany. And I will! But not today.

I think this is one of those shirts that you just have to wear with jeans. I was not sad about wearing jeans. I felt super casual, comfortable, and cute. You know what that means, right? I need about 6 more of these shirts.

Dear Kate

This weekend flew by FAST. Don't all weekends, though? Why is the ratio 5 days work : 2 days play? And then 2 days play actually become 2 days running all the errands you can't run during the work week. Dumb!

Anyway, I took a personal day yesterday to get said errands done. Then I somehow ended up with my nephew and between trips to various stores, we got in some good sidewalk chalk time and Harry Potter time.

I want to start wearing tights and boots and scarves, but the temperature has started creeping back into the 90s. Why is this happening to me? I volunteer. I pay taxes. I recycle. Shouldn't I be entitled to some nice weather?

Awaiting details of your closet-clean-out,
Jen

I sorta love looking cute even when I'm just running errands.

Even better when the only effort is lacing up the boots.

I really liked the *idea* of this outfit.

I'd even go so far as to say that I like the execution too.

But I think I've gotta get rid of this skirt. It's just too short - I felt exposed all day, and uncomfortable. It would seem I'm a knee-length girl at least.

And also? Sometimes it just feels really good to wear a crisp white button-down.

Can't go wrong with a crisp white button-down.

Brace yourself...

I'M CLEANING OUT MY CLOSET.

This should be interesting.

Back later this week with more! :-)

The Spoils: Old Navy

A week or so ago, I received a coupon in the mail offering 30% off of select fall fashions at Old Navy. Exercising self-restraint, I promptly discarded the coupon.

On Friday, my coworker approached me and said that she had something for me. She'd also received the same coupon in the mail, but she did not dispose of it. Instead, she'd saved it for me. It was kismet. I called my coworker an "enabler," thanked her for the coupon, and paid a visit to Old Navy.

I know these hangers are sexy, but if the Texas temperatures would kindly accommodate, I could show you what the spoils look like on me!

Daily Outfit - Jen - 10/22/10

Surely Jarod thinks I look phenomenal everyday, but I am pleasantly surprised when he takes the time to say as much. I haphazardly dressed myself this morning, so when I left the house, I wasn't feeling so confident about what I was wearing. He complimented me when I got home this evening, and I was immediately relieved to learn that at least one person didn't think I looked crazy today.

My weekend is off to an amazing start. Jarod made me (a can of) soup, and I ate (at least 4 spoonfuls of) Nutella. Top that!

Man, I really wish these pictures had turned out better.

I LOVED this outfit. If I were to go for a tromp in the moors, this is what I would wear.

Sadly, as I am lacking in moors to tromp in, I just wore it to work.

Loved the way this plaid looked against the bright green, and how the whole thing had a very vintage-y, rural English sort of feel to it. In a perfect world it would've been the skirt wearing the plaid rather than the shirt, and the cardigan would've been a bit looser and less trendy. But hey, I'll take what I can get.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 10/21/10

My original plan today was to where this shirt tucked in with a belt and my cute Target boots. Obviously, I deviated from that plan - like that time I planned to go to Penn State and become a meteorologist... And then I didn't. But a linguistics degree is totally useful, right? Right!

Do you know what's REALLY useful? A Caramello. Or mint chocolate chip ice cream. Or both. What am I saying? They're not useful, but man they're freaking good.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 10/20/10

OK this is all kinds of confusing. So let me say two things:

1)Tuesday's outfit was AWESOME. But then after work I went to pick up my LLBean boots from the shoe repair shop, and then I decided to trade in my black heeled boots (which I'd been wearing that day) so they could re-glue the toes for me. So that sort of ruined the effect of the outfit. BUT it was *originally* my long purple skirt, grey tee, black cardi, black heeled boots, and silver jewelry. It was supercool. I will have to repeat that one.

2)I have no idea what happened to my face here. Or my pose. Or my dog. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON WITH ANYTHING.

You try and sort it out - 'cause I sure can't!

BUT - FLUEVOGS ROCK. that's all.

I'm trying to think of something fun and interesting to write, but I'm too distracted. Sorry. To be fair, you would be distracted if you were in my position, too. That position being one in which a person is about to go out for some Thai food. See? You understand.

The cause of the delirium:

Nice picture, right? Mom just dyed my hair. Cute outfit. Gorgeous weather.

Oh yeah.

(And also that video? OH CREEPY. HOLY HELL, '80s.)

At last I've found wuv. Twue wuv.

OK well tonight I'm gonna go home and watch The Princess Bride and Ferris Bueller.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 10/18/10

I forgot that I owned this blouse until this morning. I guess that's not entirely accurate, since I didn't remember that I own it; rather, I re-discovered it in my closet. Looking at these photos, I wish I could forget that I own it, again. Something just doesn't seem right. Maybe it's just the combination with this skirt? I don't know. All day I just kept thinking to myself that the skirt wasn't sitting right on my body. Isn't it ridiculous that I am only now noticing this? Wah.

I like purple. Ramble, ramble, ramble.

Dear Kate

Busy weekend! Aren't weekends for relaxing? The most relaxing thing I did all weekend was go for a hike. Crazy.

Can I just say how happy I am that Texas has transitioned from 100* weather to high 80s weather? I AM HAPPY THAT TEXAS HAS TRANSITIONED FROM 100* WEATHER TO HIGH 80S WEATHER.

I'm feeling the itch to do one of my Old Navy sale splurges. On at least 3 different occasions, I've added a gazillion items to my (online) shopping cart and never checked out. I've come a long way and now I not only want to see/feel what I'm buying, but I also want to know how it will fit into my wardrobe. I'll probably repeat this fake virtual shopping trip again right after I post this entry.

In other news, I want new black heels.

How are you!

Yours,
Jen

Daily Outfit - Kate - 10/14/10

Today's plan consisted of getting tortured* at the eye doctor this morning, feeling icky and bloated, and taking a long walk home.

So today's outfit required COMFORT.

Win!

Daily Outfit - Jen - 10/13/10

Not only is today my anniversary, but it is also my husband's birthday - yay! This is what I wore today. I decided last minute to switch out of my black heels and into my wedding shoes to make it an extra good day.

For dinner, my husband wore a bright red face.

Because I hired a singing telegram.

Dressed in a gorilla suit.

Win! :D
