Daily Outfit - Jen - 02/22/11

I hate this, so I'm going to quickly move on. The only good thing in these photos is Broughton.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 10/28/10

I'm going to pretend that today is Halloween and that I am a witch.

I just performed a memory spell, and you now have no recollection of this outfit.

What outfit?

Exactly.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 8/17/10

Soooo. I'd lovingly been referencing last week as the "week of poo," and on Friday, I thought that the week of poo was officially over. That's until this morning around 5 AM when my olfactory sense AWOKE ME FROM MY SLEEP to let me know that I'd transitioned from last week's figurative week of poo to this week's literal week of poo.

Obviously, my plans to be fancier this week are being thwarted by... who knows? What have I ever done to anybody!

So I wore earrings, today. There. Fancy. Thank you.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 7/28/10

Hmmmm. I can't wear this right. I love this dress, but in my efforts to make it work appropriate, I managed to gain 15 lbs. Oops! On the bright side, I'm not in jeans?

Behold. You are witnessing with your very eyes the horror that results from both missing one's alarm AND bad posture. The perfect storm.

Now, will someone please teach me how to pose for pictures?

Daily Outfit - Jen - 7/1/10

What is going on with me this week! I just can't seem to get a cute outfit together. When I was trying this top on in the dressing room, I paired it with a really adorable skirt (mostly because I didn't want to change tops) and LOVED it. That's what I initially had on for the day, but then the paranoia set in, and no matter how much I adjusted my skirt, I was convinced that it was too short. So, on the jeans went.

I hated this. I felt like I should have accessorized with a disco ball. Oh, well!

Daily Outfit - Kate - 6/22/10

ONE WORD, KATE:

PROPORTION.

Seriously. Or else change your name to Stumpy McStumperson.

On a completely different note, though - how cute is this fake Obi belt?

AKA a scarf that I got on clearance at Old Navy or something probably, a long long time ago.

Stumpy McStumperson is sorry she looked like a bum on Tuesday :-(

Daily Outfit - Jen - 6/14/10

I'm not even going to attempt to make any excuses for today's outfit. I'm not going to bring up the fact that it's Monday or that we hate ironing in our house or that it's insanely hot in Texas or that I like to sleep in or anything like that. I'm just going to take responsibility for the fact that today's outfit was uninspired and boring. I'm also going to include a dog in my pictures, because that instantly makes the outfit a little better. Dimitri is that cute that he can transform the dull to the delightful.

Today is the first outfit post where I debut the new earrings Jarod got for me, and yet, we couldn't get a good picture of them. We suck sometimes, but there's always tomorrow!

Daily Outfit - Jen - 6/8/10

So, this evening consisted of the following:

I got home! Jarod wasn't home, yet! I started making dinner! Jarod got home! Our friends came over for dinner! We ate a lot of food! Our friends left! I got ready for bed!

And that is why I don't have a dang picture for today. Oops.

Here. Look at this tiny Korean pinecone.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 6/3/10

Sometimes, love means never having to say you're sorry for posting a picture of your dog instead of a picture of your outfit, because you purposely decided to sleep in and give yourself 10 minutes to get dressed and out the door in the morning.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 5/20/10

Man. This is not how I imagined the debut of my new H&M blouse to look. Only I could sabotage such a pretty top. I really wanted to wear a blazer with this, but it is just too ding dang dong hot.

For dinner, I changed into jeans, and it instantly made the outfit better. Better, but not awesome.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 3/12/10

Name a store that is on your shit list. GO! Mine is Delia*s.

When I receive an online order, I try on everything for two reasons:
1) To make sure everything fits and
2) Because it's fun! HELLO.

Anyway, so I tried this top on over my clothes and thought, "It's okay. Cheap is cheap." Today was the real test. As I was getting dressed this morning, I noticed the elastic scrunching across the boob area. Why... is that there? Why... is my shirt puckering when it's loose as heezy heck?

So, I had to wear it like this. Good riddance, Delia*s. Also, I'm returning the pants I bought. The two same-sized pairs of pants that fit differently.

SO. Once upon a time, I bought a pretty cute scarf from a store called Delia*s at the mall. It's a pretty print, so I thought to myself, "why not try some of their other stuff?" So, I get online, pick out a few things, receive everything, and am ultimately pretty bummed.

This blouse is the first thing that I wore. It is SO pretty online. Isn't it? ISN'T IT? But when I opened the plastic bag and felt the gross fabric, I was admittedly, disappointed. But hey, it was $9.99 and not worth the hassle of returning.

Then. THEN, I wore it to work. I have never in my life worn a more uncomfortable article of clothing. For some reason, beyond the reach of my resourceful and logical brain, this blouse was made with an elastic band around the mid-section. "At the bottom of your waist?" you ask. NAY. "Empire-waisted?" you ask. NAY, again, I say. No - around your freaking stomach. Every.single.time that you stand up, sit down, move, or even breathe, you will need to readjust this blouse. And it sucks. My sister will be inheriting it in the near future, just as soon as she does something worthy of punishment.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 1/28/10

UGH. That's all I have to say about this.

Well, I guess I have a bit more to say...

One of the risks of dressing adventurously (hey I hear you laughing at me - my version of "adventurous" is just a bit different than yours, I bet) is that there's such a gamble - you see a look, you try it out, and if it doesn't work you may be stuck with it (or a version of it) all. freaking. day.

Such was the case with me and the new tied shirt/cardigan thing that academichic shared. I thought it looked really cute and was dying to try it out, so I did. And on me? Personally? FAIL. The ties went across the widest part of me, completely hiding my waist. I tried to fix the cardigan's neckline by tucking it in at the sides and felt uncomfortable and fidgety all day as a result. The long flowy under-shirt showed under the cardi and made me look all blocky and the proportions were all wrong. Just... UGH. I couldn't wait to get home and take it off, and now I'm laying here in flannel jampants and an old t-shirt and feel SO much better.

I may revisit this look/technique sometime in the future, but not with this particular combo - traditionally-belted cardis are better for my body type, I think.

PS>I think it looks better in photos in real life, but that doesn't change that I felt GUH-ROSS all day.
