Daily Outfit - Kate - 12/7/10

It was 17* out when I hopped on my bike yesterday morning.

Time to pull out the cold-weather gear.

No more bare legs for me for a while, that's for sure. Good thing I <3 tights :-)

But all the same, I was sweating in my windbreaker by the time I got to campus. Hills tend to do that to ya.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 10/14/10

Today's plan consisted of getting tortured* at the eye doctor this morning, feeling icky and bloated, and taking a long walk home.

So today's outfit required COMFORT.

Win!

Dress and slip: Target
Boots: 704b, via DSW
Necklace: Fossil, via Macy's
Earrings: Mumsie.

*OK so that's an exaggeration. But I did spend the rest of the day with a splitting headache.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 9/28/10

This is one outfit where I just know my mom is going to say "Vic! Come look at our adorable daughter!" and drag my dad in from the living room where he's sleeping with a schnauzer on his lap.

Yes, this is how it shall play out. I can tell. DSP (Daughter Sensory Perception.).

Thanks, Mom.

Do you ever have those days where you FEEL like you look supercute, and you even notice that you're carrying yourself as one who's supercute, but then you actually look at your pics and think "WTF really I thought that?".

This is one of those days. I don't know why - nothing special about the outfit - but I guess I just happened to be in exactly the right mindset.

Good thing I was actually wearing clothes and not, like, a giant slice of pizza costume or something.

Closeup of the scarf pattern:

I just picked this up at Plowsharing Crafts with my 15% birthday discount, so it was only like $12 - and real silk. I love the pattern! It's, like, maximum busy-ness. And totally bubushka :-D

Sweater: Target
Skirt: thrifted, originally Forever21
Tee: Old Navy
Shoe: Naturalizer
Tights: American Eagle
Scarf: Plowsharing Crafts
Earrings: superold from parents (top pair); some jewelry shop on the loop (bottom pair)

Daily Outfit - Kate - 8/25/10

Despite the obviously fake smile, I really did like yesterday's outfit.

I usually wear this jersey skirt super-casual (like, with a tee and flip-flops), but took it a bit outside the box. All day long I felt like I was prancing around in my pyjamas...and heels. :-D

Also, this scarf is my favorite. <3.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 8/24/10

We had "class pictures" today. By which I mean, "staff pictures." By which I mean GODDAMNIT I GOT STUCK FRONT ROW CENTER.

Just like third grade all over again. Too short for the middle row, too tall (?) for the edges of the front.

Anyway, I wore this:

That's a total repeat of what I wore for my first day and yeah, the picture is recycled too. I'd already had enough picture-taking fun.

Oh but I did wear a necklace. Um. yeah.

(GAWD I am one crotchety little bitch!)

Everything: Target ::sigh::

Daily Outfit - Kate - 8/2/10

First day at my new job!

This is what I wore:

Jeff helped me choose something that said "age appropriate and fun outfit which shows I'm a responsible person who's not afraid to kick ass but won't be mean just for the sake of it and is respectful of her superiors, and who is also very good at her job and is friendly and nice and you should like her."

It says a lot, I think.

Closed-toed shoes in case sandals are a no-no (though now I've learned - they're OK), respectfully long yet youthfully short skirt, cardigan in case the building was freezing but tee underneath in case it was roasting. And tattoos 'cause I'm not afraid to hide them.

And I even got a compliment on my earrings.

(Have y'all ever noticed that an earring compliment is just about the safest, nicest, lowest-backfiring-rate-est way to pay a compliment? And unless they're just silver studs or something, surely you can come up with something great - and genuine - to say. WIN!)

And now that I'm home for the day, this is me:

Sleepin' on my feet!

(almost) EVERYTHING: Target
Shoes: Not Target
Earrings: Mom

Daily Outfit - Kate - 7/27/10

I'm wrapped up like a cutter.

AND I LOVE IT.

Also, I promise I didn't get the new ink just to match today's dress :-)

I usually try and stay away from going super matchy-matchy, but when I realized how well these earrings go with the dress, I just couldn't resist!

They were created by Wai Sze - one of my fellow Bees, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day - I love them! :-)

Dress: Target
Wedges: still no idea
Earrings: Wai Sze

Daily Outfit - Kate - 4/14/10

"Hi, I'm Kate, and I'm a black+brownaholic."

I can't help it. When you combine black and brown they go from *both* being neutrals, to *neither* being neutrals. How can you NOT adore that?

I love dresses, and I love THIS dress. These pics were taken at about 7:45 after a full day's work and two hours of grocery shopping, and I STILL felt cute and comfortable. So happy.

Dress: Target, early spring 2010
Boots: LLBean
Scarf: Target, early spring 2010 (same trip as the dress, IIRC...)

Daily Outfit - Kate - 3/29/10

I've no idea *what* I was thinking when I bought this dress-shirt thing.

(I've also no idea why I was making another gooney face there. Such are the mysteries of the world.)

I mean, it's (the dress-shirt) is scandalously short as a dress, but definitely too long to be a shirt or tunic. I'm not a huge fan of the scoopneck, there's no waist shaping, and did I mention it's SHORT? But I liked the color, and it was $3. So it came home with me many months ago, and has been hanging neglected in my closet ever since.

UNTIL! Today. When I wore it. With a modesty skirt underneath (hey will you help me turn 'modesty skirt' into a "thing"? Please?) and my new UO belt and one of my favorite cotton scarves, it's not *horrible.* Right?

Dress: Old Navy, summer 2009
Skirt: thrifted, originally The Limited
Tights: Old Navy, 2008ish maybe?
Shoes: Softspots "Bronte", summer 2009
Belt: Urban Outfitters, winter 2009/2010

Daily Outfit - Kate - 3/15/10

There's absolutely nothing exciting about this outfit. I was running late so just grabbed a bunch of pieces I liked, and threw them on together. Moreover, I'm pretty sure I've worn something *very* similar to this recently.

Oh, well. It works, right?

Gosh, I love that necklace.
