The Spoils: mostly Old Navy, and Daily Outfit - Kate - 8/29/10

EDIT - fixed the pictures!

I ran some errands yesterday. One of those errands involved Old Navy, and a 30% Friends and Family discount.

Good (read: bad) things happen when I run an errand in Old Navy. Especially with a discount in hand.

A purple wide-wale corduroy waistcoat happens, for example. As you shall see later.

Also, a new denim knee-length skirt happens:

It's so I don't have to wear the same one every day. Mix it up a bit!

And then there's an airy woven tunic thingy:

($8.99 on clearance!)

Oh, and a cute little ruffled henley:

Look at me, all explorin' outside the box! Shaddup. It's a big step. For me.

And because we can't be *too* adventurous, we end up in Grey Cardigan Land.

But it fits perfectly, and was only $7!

Why buy one cardigan, when you can buy *two*?!

This one is different, though. 'Cause it's purple. And lace. And cropped. And $11.

After leaving Old Navy, I decided to inflict some damage at the adjacent Marshall's. To the tune of $7 pumps:

Which I wore today and... ::shudder::. Glad I didn't pay more than $7 for them!

Oh, and a Talbots skirt:

It may not look like much now, but I can tell ya that it's the *perfect* length to pair with these beauties.

Ssh! Don't tell Jeff I'm already planning outfits, OK?

Goodwill was my last stop, and I tried on a *bunch* of stuff but only came away with one item:

We shall see. It's a bit tight, and it needs a slip, but that grey floral print is just so charming, and the color's so bright and cheery! Worth a shot at $2, yes?

::contented sigh::

Oh! I almost forgot! Sunday night I had a work function to attend, and it was really casual. So I test-drove a couple of my new pieces:

I felt like major hotness!

Yeah, this one will definitely be repeated at some point.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 8/24/10

We had "class pictures" today. By which I mean, "staff pictures." By which I mean GODDAMNIT I GOT STUCK FRONT ROW CENTER.

Just like third grade all over again. Too short for the middle row, too tall (?) for the edges of the front.

Anyway, I wore this:

That's a total repeat of what I wore for my first day and yeah, the picture is recycled too. I'd already had enough picture-taking fun.

Oh but I did wear a necklace. Um. yeah.

(GAWD I am one crotchety little bitch!)

Everything: Target ::sigh::

Daily Outfit - Kate - 8/17/10

Roxie loves her mama.

We smile together. In Roxie-land, you smile by opening your mouth really wide and sticking your tongue out.

Roxie loves to smile. I love to see Roxie smile. Jeff loves to watch me make an idiot of myself. It all works out, you see?

Daily Outfit - Kate - 8/11/10

Today's outfit - now with 100% FEWER sweat stains!

But only because I rode straight home from work today instead of taking the long way 'round or running any errands :-)

Also, since Jeff is in NYC right now, the tripod has returned. And thus so has my shameless mugging.

Hey, I never claimed not to be a dork.

(Why is it I can never take a photo where I feel "pretty" - "adequate" is usually the best I can hope for - but I have NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER posting assorted embarrassing and/or humorous dorky shots?

Probably something to discuss with my therapist.

If I had one.

(Anybody wanna be my therapist?)

Sweater: handknitted by me! :-)
Tank: Target
Skirt: thrifted, originally Delia's
Sandals: Privo

Daily Outfit - Kate - 7/28/10

We're on the cusp of laundry day, friends.

But I have two more pairs of underwear in the drawer, so I think I can get KreAtiVe and survive 'till the weekend.

Today's outfit, I call "whatever was clean. Ish."

Cardigan: Target
Tee: Forever 21, about 5 or 6 years ago

Daily Outfit - Kate - 7/22/10

I finally got around to wearing this skirt with a black tank, as promised.

Personally, I think the look would've been more effective if I could have lost the cardigan, added some big black and cork wedges, and accessorized with a bloody mary.

But hey, Thursday is Thursday. What can ya do?

Skirt: TJMaxx
Tank: Target
Cardigan: Sears and it's really really old

Daily Outfit - Kate - 7/15/10

Use your imaginations, kids.

My favorite patchwork-y skirt.

A red tee.

The quintessential brown cardigan.

Bird necklace.

These sandals.

Together: wonderfulness. And also sweatiness because DUDES it's like 100* in St. Louis today and I'm not even kidding. Gah. I melted!

Maybe you just had to be there.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 7/14/10

It doesn't get much simpler than this.

Well, it does. I guess there's always jumpsuits. But let's not go there, eh?

Love the back detail on this belt - you'd never know it's from Target!

Also that light spot it just early evening sunlight - I wasn't hit with a dustball or something :-P

Dress: Converse for Target
Belt: Target
Sandals: wish I remember. Macy's? I think this changes every time I post about them :-P
Necklace and earrings: mum

Daily Outfit - Jen - 7/5/10

I didn't realize until this very moment that my outfit today was so patriotic. My patriotism was a day off, though. Oops! Our camera (user...) was off, too. These shorts are striped - not psychedelic.

So, what'd you do this weekend? I barbecued... MY FACE.

Top: Nordstrom Rack
Shorts: J. Crew Outlet
Sandals: Tory Burch via Nordstrom (2009?)

Daily Outfit - Jen - 6/18/10

I wanted to wear a skirt today, but I didn't want to shave my legs. Sue me. Also, my toes totally look like vienna sausages in these sandals!

I was so pumped about the weekend that I couldn't even wait until after these photos to eat my chocolate. Please excuse my atrocious manners (and my outfits, this week).

Daily Outfit - Kate - 6/8/10

Jeff told me this afternoon, "You look cute today!"

Granted it was over webcam, so I probably looked like a pixelated rainbow-colored blob, but hey - a compliment's a compliment.

And also - HEY JEN!! HEADBAND!!!

I <3 headbands a bunch, all of a sudden. Methinks I shall seek out more at my earliest opportunity. Maybe ones that aren't all head-hurty next time.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 6/7/10

Yeesh! I think I aged 10 years overnight. I guess that's what I get for staying up late to watch old episodes of Sex and the City. Thanks for nothing, Carrie Bradshaw!

This is what I wore for an evening at the Shakespeare Festival with the women of Jeff's family (guess they're my family too :-P):

Nice and light and summery, huh? :-)

And look! I have a photo helper!

What wonderful assistance she provides.

Look! She even helped me frame the shot!

I just think she likes being in the spotlight, actually.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 6/1/10

Well, I went for it:

And Jen, YOU WERE RIGHT. I can - theoretically - totally pull this off :-) Next time it'll be with a black tank, I promise :-)

My favorite part of wearing long skirts is when I get to walk up stairs, and hold the skirt up so I don't trip. Makes me feel like I'm straight out of the 19th century!

Cardigan: Sears, circa EONS AGO.

Thank you for daring me to step outside my comfort zone :-)

Daily Outfit - Kate - 5/26/10

today was one of those days where I had a Grand Vision, and then after much changing and tossing and switching and flinging and dropping and mixing, I was left with an entirely mediocre result.

Ever have those days?

Still though I <3 this skirt so I'm happy :-)

Also since it's apparently Dog Week here on our lil' ol' blog, behold:

I call it, "takes 1 through 15, representative."

She's a love!

Daily Outfit - Kate - 5/24/10

I am seriously on the fence about this top:

On the one hand - YAYPRETTYCOLORANDINTERESTINGSHAPE!

On the other hand - ICK.

Ya know what I mean?

So what do you think, dear readers?

Pros: nice color. fun texture (the stripes are actually part of the knit). cute little puffy sleeves. good length.

Cons: looks like a maternity top. gapes and sags most unappealingly. sorta 2003-esque.

Top: Kohls, 2007ish
Tank: thrifted, originally Old Navy
Skirt: GAP
Sandals: Privo, summer 2009
Necklace and earrings: my one and only mother

Daily Outfit - Kate - 5/10/10

It's a one-pic day today, kiddos.

I love this high-waisted skirt. Love everything about it - how slender I feel with it on, how the length is perfect, the superdark wash. But I also hate it. How I'm constantly pulling it down, how if it's not sitting exactlyright across my midsection then I look like Queen of the Fupas.

So I only wear it once in a while, and when I do I simultaneously adore and loathe it.

Such is my life.

Tee: Sears, summer 2008

Daily Outfit - Kate - 4/8/10

I'm not sure what's going on here, and I'd really appreciate your help figuring it out.

Good in theory, right? But something's just not quite right...is it too costume-y, with the voluminous blouse and the long skirt and the intricate sandals? (Do I look like a gypsy?) Is it too old ladyish, with the braided belt and skirt length?

Or is everything A-OK, and I just have an overactive imagination?

Regardless, I think that next time I wear a white top with this skirt it should be a different white top.

You can never go wrong with pearls, though.
