Daily Outfit - Kate - 12/21/10

I got a compliment on my scarf tie at work today.

It was pretty awesome.

And now if you'll excuse me, I need to go eat peanut butter fudge and watch The Wizard of Oz.

It's tough being me.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 6/1/10

Well, I went for it:

And Jen, YOU WERE RIGHT. I can - theoretically - totally pull this off :-) Next time it'll be with a black tank, I promise :-)

My favorite part of wearing long skirts is when I get to walk up stairs, and hold the skirt up so I don't trip. Makes me feel like I'm straight out of the 19th century!

Tee: thrifted, originally Target
Cardigan: Sears, circa EONS AGO.
Skirt: Marshalls, summer 2010
Sandals: somewhere, sometime (a long time ago)
Earrings: mumsie
Ring: booth at Maple Leaf, fall 2009

Thank you for daring me to step outside my comfort zone :-)

Daily Outfit - Kate - 5/26/10

today was one of those days where I had a Grand Vision, and then after much changing and tossing and switching and flinging and dropping and mixing, I was left with an entirely mediocre result.

Ever have those days?

Still though I <3 this skirt so I'm happy :-)

Also since it's apparently Dog Week here on our lil' ol' blog, behold:

I call it, "takes 1 through 15, representative."

She's a love!

Daily Outfit - Kate - 4/27/10

Disclaimer: The following hairdo is the result of the tail-end of a large gust of wind. I am not, nor do I have any plans to, buy stock in Aquanet or move to the deep South.

Amen.

Today was one of those days where I pretty much just ran around my bedroom grabbing random objects I <3, and throwing them on my body.

Luckily, it worked.

Ever have those days?

This picture would be great if I were ever running for PTA officer:

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), the dog park doesn't have a PTA. I'm in the clear, for now.

Cardigan: Target
Tee: Marshall's, like 40 million years ago
Jeanskirt: Levi's, from Goodys in Kirksville (hey same trip as that black polkadotted dress!)
Earrings: Mumsie
Ring: Booth at Maple Leaf, fall 2009
Scarf: Booth at the Gypsy Caravan, spring 2009

Daily Outfit - Kate - 4/1/10

(gotta catch up the backlog somehow, right? :-))

Today was a total case of "I don't care what I wear just put on clothes and go" that turned into "ZOMG HAPPINESS!!!". I love when that happens.

Times like these I think it would be ideal to take pictures before work, instead of at the end of the day, when I've worked for 9 hours, ridden two trains, taken a walk downtown, and loaded my car with potting soil and assorted plants. I dunno, I think it might add a certain "je ne sais quoi" to the outfit, no? And by "je ne sais quoi" I mean, "lack of wrinkles." :-D

That scarf is yet another of my Sarasota thrifting finds; I really enjoyed how the maroon-y color looks with the brighter pink of my top. And I always love collared shirts with scarves; it seems so feminine yet put-together, doesn't it?

And copper earrings just 'cause :-)

Shirt: Old Navy, 2008
Skirt: Old Navy, 2008 (same shopping trip even, I think...)
Scarf: vintage, thrifted
Flats: Born, 2008
Earrings: MOM!

Daily Outfit - Kate - 3/25/10

We were rushing this evening, so the photos are even crappier than usual. But that's OK, because this outfit was the epitome of laziness and comfort :-)

I originally put it together to wear with this new shawl I knitted, but then once I got it all on I realized - I really needed a darker color up at my neck. So I subbed in *another* shawl I knitted.

It's rough being me, you know.

Especially when I'm having a BAD FREAKING HAIR DAY.

Ever have days when you just want to cut your bangs OFF? Yes. Me too.

Cardigan: Old Navy, 2007 or 2008
Tee: GAP, 2008
Skirt: LLBean
Boots: LLBean
Shawl: pattern - Ishbel; yarn - Buffalo Gold Lux Lace
Earrings: mummy
Ring: Maple Leaf festival fall 2009

Daily Outfit - Kate - 3/23/10

So um...how obvious is it that I'm still loving this 90's inspiration thing?

Lose the jacket, you weirdo!

This was actually my first time ever doing the whole "footless tights with flats" thing. I think I liked it. How 'bout you?

You see, I - in my unrelenting fashion-forwardness - have always worn footless tights with boots. So I could wear handknitted socks with said tights and boots.

I told ya I was cool.

And also? I <3 my new necklace. Bet it won't surprise you to learn that Mom made it :-)

(even if I forget to make it lay straight before taking pictures)

And I bet you'll be even less surprised to learn there are awesome matching earrings, too:

Happiness!

Dress: Old Navy fall 2009, purchased on super clearance
Jacket: GAP

Flats: Michelle D (Dillards), 2008ish

Daily Outfit - Kate - 1/26/10

I really feel like these photos don't do today's outfit justice.

My goal here today was to incorporate a brighter color or two into my usually-dark winter palette. So I started building with the only bright-colored scarf in my wardrobe. I feel like the salmon-y pink complements the scarf's gold and lavender nicely, even though I don't know enough about color theory to tell you why :-P That skirt is my favorite purple corduroy one which I actually tracked down in Kansas City and sent my dad down to the Plaza to buy. It was worth it, because I wear it all the time and know I'll love it for years to come.

Close-up that shows the color of my scarf and the shiny gold threads running through it.

Finally, if I ever come out with an emo/punk album with a single called "Amber Ring" then this'll be the album cover:

Just so ya know.

Cardigan: Target

Tights: Target

Scarf: booth at Gypsy Caravan, spring 2009
