Daily Outfit - Kate - 2/15/11

Guess what? I've actually come up with a GOOD excuse to not do laundry.

I call it - "outfit creativity"!

This shirt almost never gets worn, unless all my other clothes are either dirty and/or damp and hanging on drying racks. And then I pull this from my closet, and think about its lovely little print and how I never wear it and how I really should. And then I wear it.

This happens a few times a year. Which I guess is enough reason for me to keep the shirt around, eh? :-)

Shirt: thrifted, originally GAP
Tank: Old Navy
Skirt: GAP
Boots: LLBean
Tights: Target
Belt: thrifted
Cowl: handknitted by me!

Daily Outfit - Jen - 8/27/10

I had lunch with Jarod today, and he managed to compliment my outfit 3 times in one hour. Specifically, he really seemed to love my slacks. I don't really care for them, but I'll take whatever compliment I can get.

It's the weekend, folks. Make it a happy one!

Daily Outfit - Jen - 7/29/10

Man, I really wish I had some cute espadrilles for this, but the wedges had to do for today. I was pretty terrified of this skirt when I tried it on in at the J. Crew outlet. With a little encouragement from my friend, Thao, who reminded me that I don't own anything else like it, I brought it home with me.

But once I got home, I could not figure out how to wear it. Did my top have to be white? Did the white have to match the white in my skirt? What are the rules! Once again, Thao came to my rescue and gave me loads of ideas. This is what I put together. I think I did okay, and now that I'm no longer scared of the skirt, I can't wait to play around with it in the future!

Daily Outfit - Jen - 7/27/10

Seriously, how much fancier is this outtake than the actual posed photo?

I guess this is a fashion blog and not a photography blog, but DANG IT. I want pretty pictures.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 7/26/10

Rain, rain, go away. Come back after I've taken my outfit pictures.

Really, though, it was overcast all day, and right when Jarod and I get home, POURING RAIN. I like this outfit, even if I didn't originally plan to accessorize with raindrops.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 6/24/10

Contrary to what the rest of my outfits from this week may have led you to believe, I am a working professional and not a college student. Surprise! Do you want to hear something disturbing? I somehow actually dressed even WORSE as a student. One semester my freshman year, my first class was on the same floor as my dorm room, and I would be lying if I said I never rolled out of bed and went to class in my PJs.

That was also the year that my roommate and I would listen to the Fools Rush In soundtrack in the mornings to get pumped up for 8 AM classes. We skipped class a lot.

Daily Outfit - Jen - 6/1/10

I know that I swore to wear my new denim dress today, but I just couldn't pull my outfit together this morning. So, this is the alternative, and I love it! I felt young and pretty and springy!

Isn't this so fun? I'm not usually drawn to weird textures like this, but I'm really glad that I tried this top on.

Daily Outfit - Kate - 4/14/10

"Hi, I'm Kate, and I'm a black+brownaholic."

I can't help it. When you combine black and brown they go from *both* being neutrals, to *neither* being neutrals. How can you NOT adore that?

I love dresses, and I love THIS dress. These pics were taken at about 7:45 after a full day's work and two hours of grocery shopping, and I STILL felt cute and comfortable. So happy.

Dress: Target, early spring 2010
Boots: LLBean
Scarf: Target, early spring 2010 (same trip as the dress, IIRC...)
Earrings: Mamma mia

Daily Outfit - Kate - 1/27/10

Guess who I was (very indirectly) inspired by for today's outfit? Hint.

Not even remotely resembling any of Mrs. Parker's actual outfits, but I think it's close in spirit - the straight, simple wrap skirt, the cardigan-over-a-shirt-that-looks-nothing-like-the-cardigan, the rounded collar and vintage print on the pink shirt, the prim shoes.

Look! I even have the bemused expression!

(though admittedly mine is more "ornery", less "befuddled".)

This is one of my favorite detail photos ever, even though you can see I'm covered in cat hair:

All I'm missing is an embroidered hanky up my sweater sleeve.
