Daily Outfit - Kate - 1/6/11

I have no idea what I was wearing on Thursday. I mean, I have a picture (clearly)...

But I have nothing clever about how I came up with the outfit, or that I liked it, or that I hated it, or anything. It is a perfect exercise in utter neutrality of emotion.

Exciting, huh?

A good shawl pin is an invaluable accessory, I'm learning. Which makes me want moar! moar! moar!

Top: Target
Skirt: Talbot's, via TJMaxx
Tights: F21
Shoes: Macy's or something, long ago
Shawl: Meeee!!!!
Shawl pin of awesomeness: booth at St. Louis RenFest, last spring

The Spoils: The F-word

My friends, I have been bad.

There was a great deal to be had on Endless last week.

And...

Which doesn't look all that exciting, I know. But you haven't looked inside yet. At this:

Oh yes I did.

(At least you know it isn't boots)

O.M.G.

I mean, what else am I gonna do when they're only $140, and there's one pair left, and THEY'RE MY SIZE?

My hands were tied.

I'm so in love.

And so poor now.

But so in love.

Surely you understand?

(Besides, I'm just working my way down the list? Which makes total sense.)

Daily Outfit - Kate - 11/8/10

I rarely wear this sweater because it's acrylic. And every time I wear it, I really wish it were wool instead.

To me, acrylic just doesn't breathe. It pills up really quickly and looks ragged and just doesn't feel nice against my skin.

But have you ever tried to buy a wool sweater with this much drape and yardage? For how much it costs, I may as well spend the same $$ on yarn, knit my own and get some fun out of it, too, right? :-P

But all that aside, I did like yesterday's outfit. The color palette really worked for me: a bright primary (the tights), a bright secondary (the sweater), and a muted secondary (the tank), along with neutral browns. I doubt that's a formula you'd find in any color guidelines, but I liked it :-)

Sweater: somewhere in Chicago, 2/2010
Tank: Target
Skirt: Sears, circa 2008
Maryjanes: no clue
Tights: F21
Earrings: Mom

Daily Outfit - Kate - 8/31/10

I had to look professional today, for work.

Seems that my idea of "professional" is most other peoples' idea of "would you like some more tea and cookies dearie?" because apparently I looked like a grandma.

A smokin' hot grandma, RIGHT?! Oh, and one with a blurry attack dog, too. Can't forget that detail.

Seems I've gotta work on this whole idea of professional + stylish + NO BLAZERS DAMMIT. (they make me look like a linebacker. Yes, even that one.)*

Cardigan: Old Navy, 2010
Tee: thrifted, originally Target
Scarf: thrifted
Skirt: Sears, 2008
Shoes: I dunno
Earrings: MUM

Daily Outfit - Kate - 7/7/10

OMG I can't believe I'm actually showing you this.

WORST HAIR EVER. WORST POSE EVER. WORST EXPRESSION EVER.

But a cute outfit. Even if I did look vaguely Amish on the webcam tonight (Jeff even said so. The fact that I was shoveling macaroni and cheese in my mouth and singing along to Lady Gaga at the same time must not've factored into his assessment.)

I dunno. Headband? Turtleneck? Plus I guess with the Friendship Bread, I can see it...

Tee: thrifted
Cardigan: Target, spring 2010
Skirt: Apostrophe by Sears, 2008
Shoes: somewhere. Sometime. A long time ago.
Earrings: mom
Bracelet: Fair Ophelia Designs, at Strange Folk last year

Daily Outfit - Kate - 5/3/10

Sometimes I feel as though my outfits have a mind of their own. Take today, for example. No matter how hard I tried to resist, this sweater *insisted* on being belted:

Even though today I felt sooooooo icky and bloated and chocolate craving-y (you know what that means) and really wanted to feel like I was wearing my bathrobe. But then the belt went on. Then my comfy jersey skirt replaced itself with the pencil one seen above. Then my sensible low maryjanes turned into my insensible sky-high ones.

Darn you, outfit! Don't I get a say in anything?

What's that? Just the jewelry? Oh, Ok. I'll take what I can get! :-D

Sweater: Filene's Basement in Chicago, Feb. 2010
Tee: GAP outlet, summer 2008
Skirt: Sears, summer 2008
Shoes: ummmm...Macy's? Summer 2008
Belt: Urban Outfitters, winter 2009/2010
Earrings: MOM!
Bracelet: ME! :-)

Daily Outfit - Kate - 4/29/10

OMG, y'all. OMG.

Wednesday night I went to TJMaxx for some black flats, and I left with a skirt, an apron, and three awesome throw pillows.

I'd dragged a bunch of items into the fitting room, and was disappointed in each - too short, too big, to long, too small. You know how it goes. Then, of course, the last thing I tried on was The Skirt. And I was immediately smitten. <3!

I love this thing! It's my first full-length skirt since, like, 9th grade (except for my wedding dress, I guess, which was *definitely* after 9th grade :-P). And I love how drapey the cotton fabric is, and the interesting texture detail, and how it sort of tickles my ankles as I walk. I love the color and the slightly flared shape.

I love - feel free to laugh at me - it's Talbot's.

Yup, I've done it again.

So twirly!

Also, I think it makes me look much leaner in real life than in photos. Just in case you were wondering.

Skirt: Talbot's, via TJMaxx
Tee: GAP
Cardigan: Target
Earrings and Necklace: Mumsie!

Is it immediately apparent how tired and worn down I am?

Good. Let's call it a fashion statement :-P

Hangin' in there. Dangling. With a bit of copper and some lovely white beads.
